I started getting into post-war vintage as a kid then got into pre-war progressively as I got a little older. It started with a few small pre-war purchases in my teens and that led to bigger ones as I've aged. I now find myself alternating back and forth, with no specific reason other than something from either era may catch my eye. I like it though because while moving around freely, I never get tired of anything in particular. Pick ups have definitely been more weighted to pre-war the past 5 years (prob- 70-30), but have been about 50-50 the past few months, as seen in pickups like these...
