All of the 1887 issued Brooklyn cards are "zoomed in" (except the minis). The poses that were re-issued in subsequent years were not "zoomed in" and therefore show more of the players surroundings. This is covered in great detail in the OJ book, pages 80-83 (4 whole pages dedicated to your observation). Once you've digested that material you will also understand how and why the Brooklyn mini came about.
