The caption states that Combs is hitting a single on Sept 9, 1928. The photographer is unknown to me. The Yanks swept a doubleheader from the A's that day. The catcher would have been Mickey Cochrane, the umpire Bill McGowan. Three Hall of Famers, such a deal.
