Default 1952 Topps Baseball Set.....again!!!!

Brianruns10: And I'm not a rich dude either. I certainly make less than most people my age, and I'm building the 52 set, in PSA 6-7 range. I could easily do the set buying crummy 1s and 2s, but I care much more about the quality, and I save to buy each card. It takes longer, requires patience and dedication, but the rewards are sweet when you finally get that card you've coveted, and later one when you reap the rewards should you choose to sell that card, because you chose to invest in a card with condition and eye appeal that draws buyers.

I had to respond to what you said because I have been thinking about this lately. I have a mostly complete '53 Topps set...mostly complete because I am doing some upgrading. The set is all at least PSA or SGC 5 or better (except the Mantle is a PSA 4 and a nice looking one at that). I have also done a little work on '54. '52 has been on my mind for some time, thanks largely due to reading what you guys have posted over the last several months about the set (I have been reading this board for about 6 months since I found out about it, just never posted). On the one hand, I find it overwhelming due to all the variations and high numbers. And then there's the Mantle... On the other hand it is beautiful, pure Americana. I can never quite stop considering it. I am about to turn 40. I have to think most of the rest of my collecting life would be spent on this set. There are sooooo many other sets that I am interested in like '55'59, I just can't decide what to do. Sometimes I think, "There's no way I can ever complete that set." Other times, I just think I should go after it....
