In any case, the next season I got the empty spots filled in by the Phillies, including Steve Carlton and Mike Schmidt. That ball looks great without McCovey. I just wish I had never met him to begin with - I don't think a lot of adults realize how long a negative experience with a child can last; conversely, so does a positive one.
