Also, that he left negative feedback for the seller he bought it from, despite it being listed clearly as a reprint? Also, he doesn't have a picture of it in a PSA 8 holder? When asked about the holder he said it was graded 15 years ago before PSA had a holder for it, but he does have "a little certificate for it somewhere."

Posted By: David Smith
This is the same knucklehead that is offering the 1940 Play Ball Joe Jackson (discussed in another thread) for $250,000 and says it is from the David Russell find, whoever and whatever that is. He also says the Jackson is Gem Mint and that it is graded by Collector's Choice Grading Company, when you look in the "other" info" field.

As far as the PSA Dan Dee Mantle is concerned, I would write him back and ask why he just doesn't send the card back in to PSA and have them regrade and/or reholder the card. IF it is a REAL card and it is THAT high grade, the cost of regrading and reholdering is going to be far less than what the potential extra profit from selling the card is.

Just my two cents,

David

Posted By: leon
Collectors Choice Grading? Sweet........maybe they are the ones where you send them the card and the grade you want and they give it to you. Sounds like a wonderful idea....Not sure about long term value but who cares.....you get the grade you want. (this might not be that company ....but there was one that did this)

Posted By: Tyler
After further review, it appears the card in his photo is different from the one he bought a couple of weeks ago. Still can't figure out the old PSA grading service where they just sent you a little certificate that said the grade. I'm new to the vintage market, but did that ever happen?

Posted By: David Smith
Tyler,

For $8,000 dollars, you better damn well have the card in a NEW PSA holder. If the seller has four of these Dan Dee Mantle cards, what is going to keep him from sending you a reprint after you have paid the $8,000 and then saying that you switched the cards?? EBay and PayPal probably wouldn't do anything about it and then that would just leave you with either the FBI or the seller's local Police department to handle your case.

David

Posted By: Steve
Only lil certificate type thing I ever got back from PSA is when
my card didn't grade. A cert was taped to the card saver 11.

Perhaps that is what this guy is talking about?

If that is the case then the card did not grade.

Steve
