Posted By: Joseph
How exactly DO these type of offerings occur? We have a seller who deals in sports cards and who clearly knows a true example of this piece is a special, rare, and valuable card. What I'm getting at is this: Are ANY of these auctions a true case of ignorance or are they all pure chutzpah?

Posted By: Mark T
How do you know that it is a reprint? My client has thousands of cards dating from recent on back to the early 1900s. Many of the older cards had been authenticated and none of them ever came back as not being real. He was a pretty avid collector. It doesn't say reprint anywhere on it and when looking under a loop, it seems to have the same dot pattern that the other Piedmont cards have.
Thank you

Posted By: Jim Dale
It would seem the print color on his name is different - I'm no expert but trying to learn and I've been looking at these two images trying to figure out the difference...hope the author pointing this out as a fake can tell us why?

Posted By: Turner Engle
Hey guys,

Thanks for the responses so far.

When I first viewed the auction this morning, I noticed that the lettering of the "Magie, Phila. Nat'l" was off. It seems like it should be spread out much more along the bottom border, like a real Magie displays.

Also, Dave nailed it by saying there also was no sign of a factory # or a district located on the back.

Turner Engle

Posted By: Joseph
This card is in a slab with a PSA number. As Casey says, "You could look it up."

If it's a fake and they didn't grade it, PSA has a case for fraud. If it's a fake and PSA DID grade it, we all have a case for fraud. But that's highly unlikely.

Posted By: T206Collector
Uh, the fake one is not PSA graded. The PSA 3 above is from a separate listing and was used as an authentic one from which to compare the fake.

In addition, if you cannot see why the fake one is fake then you should avoid all raw T206 card purchases until you learn more about this set. Apart from being the wrong font size, the font is brown, not black, on real T206 cards. It also does not help that this one is lime green, or that the back is missing critical information.

Posted By: Mark T
I posted a real PSA 3 Magie from an auction to prove the Ebay Magie is a fake...

Also, he has a bidder now for the fake (poor guy)...

And the seller still has not responded when i showed him a real one and told him about the back.

Posted By: Pennsylvania Ted
You say he has a bidder.....but, with this new Bid History feature that ebay has all we know is that
bidder's history and not who he is ?

In this case the lonely bidder has a profile # of less than 50.

I did own a real Magie and the only back this card is found with is a Piedmont 150 Factory 25.

TED Z
