The players would have gladly taken a much more restrictive form of free agency, and history would be quite different today. Perhaps you could fault Kuhn for not getting that done, but was it really doable given the ownership at the time?<br /><br />I met Kuhn at HOF ceremonies about 1969, had him and a few other VIP types sign a page in my book, brings back fond memories...<br /><Img src="http://voot.pair.com/hoofaway/vt.jpg"><BR>

Even George is mellowing with age. Will Bowie had to deal with about 10 hard headed owners and still was able to lead the MLB in the right direction. RIP.<br /><br />Peter
