Bid McPhee pricing

Posted By: Paul
Did the price of Lew Lipset's Bid McPhee (about $3800) strike anyone as low? As a guy who paid an arm and a leg for one of these things, I'm just kind of curious. Thanks.

Posted By: Paul
Mine does have a nicer image (the white splotches in the upper left are mostly a scanning artifact). But the image of Lew Lipset's wasn't bad, and the price difference was dramatic.

Posted By: Paul
If you look at the standard catalog, I think you'd have to conclude that Bob Lemke would consider $3800 to be a bargain.

Posted By: Ryan Christoff
Paul,

In my opinion there should be a huge price difference in those two cards. Look at them. $3,800 still seems like a good price, but it doesn't seem right to compare the two. They are very different.

-Ryan

Posted By: Mark
Perhaps Pete Hill's induction has softened the market for rare hall of famer cards since it's now all but impossible to acquire all HOF cards.

Posted By: Paul
I think Mark's on to something there. And not just Pete Hill. The combination of Hill, Cooper, Mackey, Torriente, and Mendez is a daunting task, even for someone with an unlimited budget. My guess is that other tough cards like McGowan won't be as popular either. Although I can say from personal experience that there has been no drop in the demand for Burketts.
