M101-4 and M101-5 Backs
 

Posted By: <b>James Walker, Jr.</b><p>I was searching for an old thread on M101-4 and M101-5 backs. In the post someone thought that only certain backs were found on only one set. I think the main question was the Sporting News back being only on M101-5 cards.<br /><br />I know this is hard to prove since most of the cards from these sets have the same player and card number combination.<br /><br />Has anyone ever confirmed if all backs can be found on all cards?<br /><br />Thanks,<br />James Walker, Jr.

Posted By: <b>Tim Newcomb</b><p>but they may be hard to find after all this time.<br /><br />Very short answer to your inquiry:<br /><br />Many backs can only be found with M101-5 or M101-4 but not both. Several, especially the more common ones, can be found with both, including Famous/Barr, Globe, Gimbel's, Weil Baking, etc.<br /><br />Sporting News backs seem to appear only with M101-4 numbers. Someone, I think maybe Lew Lipset, claimed they had M101-5 numbers with those backs, but we're still waiting for definitive proof of it. <br /><br />Tim
