Babe Ruth

Posted By: fkw
They are fairly rare, most picture players from the PCL. There are 45 different checklisted in the 2006 SCD catalog, with the Ruth pictured on page 1602. Commons book for $300 NRMT, but I would think they would sell for a bit over book especially to a type collector. The Ruth in that condition books for about $6,000-$10,000, dont know if it would bring even $10,000. I dont have that kind of $$ handy, but If I did I would go for something different. 1/4 Million is about 25X too much, if you go by book value.

It is not the rarest card of Ruth known, I have owned a couple rarer (Blue Bird side view, Cuban Ruth, both only ones known). And Im not a big time collector.

Posted By: Zach Smith
I knew the price was outrageous even though I'd never heard of the card. A card that sells for 250k plus (i.e. 206 Wagner) you just kind of have a way of hearing about. Thanks for the info. Once again I learned something new.
