Ebay - another fraud T206 seller

Posted By: Art M.
Well, it seems there is another T206 seller on Ebay that crawled out from under a rock.
Here is the Ebay auction for a T206 Zimmerman with Carolina brights:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2786492785&category=31 719

Just happens to be the EXACT T206 Zimmerman owned by Dave Levin at www.gfg.com:

http://gfg.com/baseball/carolina.shtml

Also, this seller has a T206 "Nodgrass" catching card for sale. Unfortunately the T206 Nodgrass error is NOT available in the catching variation.

Buyer beware (again).

Posted By: TBob
Options, take your pick:

1) If the card is Dave's and there has been a theft of the scan (identity), why would Dave be bidding on it?
2)If the card is Dave's and is being consigned for sale on ebay, his bidding on it would be A-1 shilling fraud.
3) If Dave sold the card and the info is not on his website yet that it has been sold, maybe he just wants to buy the card back and thought perhaps he could get a deal on it by winning it on ebay.

I think #3 is the most logical given the circumstances and the fact I can't see Dave engaging in any chicanery as hypothesized in option 2.

Posted By: Elliot
#3 is not an option, as the seller states in his auction the ubiquitous "from my grandfather". It also seems strange that if you were going to steal a scan you would steal a Zimmerman with a CB back. Something is definitely weird with this auction, though. Plus as mentioned in the other thread the high bidder and the high price adds to the strangeness.

Posted By: John Wojak
I agree with runscott - could be that Dave wants to yank the seller a little, and see what happens when the seller realizes he has been found out. Also, imagine the interesting exchange that would take place between them if Dave wins the auction.
