PX7 (Domino Discs) Questions

Posted By: JamesW
Hello all,

Am in need of some help with the PX7 set. Through MastroNet's last auction I found out there are four different background colors: Blue, Brown, Green and Red.

From a couple other web sites (Mike Wheat Cards, and Vintage Cards Online) there are some additional images. While comparing these two sites, I noticed some different poses for the same player. So I then went to my Beckett Annual #3 (I know it's out of date, but it's all I have until the new SCD comes out) and it doesn't even have the set listed. So I go and visit Beckett.com. Do a list for the set and notice some of the discs I saw with different poses isn't listed on Beckett.com (it does list the Cobb with or without the "D" and a couple other players twice, but no explanation as to why).

Went to the Library of Congress site and they have two discs shown with pictures of the backs. They look just like a domino. One disc back had a 5-2 domino while the other was a 6-0 domino.

Now for my questions...

1. Are there any sets similar to the PX7 that someone might get the two sets confused?

2. Is there only one pose for Bob Bescher? If not, what are the different poses?

3. Can any color be found for any player/pose (i.e. can the Bob Bescher pose be found with all four different colors)?

4. Is there any relationship to the player pose, background color, and the domino picture on the back (i.e. Bob Bescher, Red background will always have, for example, a 4-5 domino on the back)?

Also, if there is no direct relationship between player pose, background color and domino picture on back, would be very interested to here what you have in your collection (sort of like a population report).

Thanks for any help of this,
James Walker, Jr.
