Normally we wait until the auction is up and running for our auction posts, but this time we wanted to get ahead of the game as it is our biggest Pre War auction yet.

A lot more than just cards, but our biggest selection of those as well. Not a ton of high grade "Win the registry" type stuff, but thousands of cards that may appeal to the set builders from the "Collector Grade" to "High Eye-Appeal" crowds.

We will add images as we finish them but wanted to start off with a few highlights:

1933 Goudey Complete Set - Low grade set and we will be selling the Ruths and Gehrigs separately but the remainder will go as one lot.

1934 Goudey Complete Set - Another low grade example but this one is being sold complete.

468 Different T206 Near Set - We had a 480 different near set this fall that we broke up, this time it all goes in one lot! Range is from Authentic to VG, loaded with HOF'ers like Lajoie, Wajo, Matthewson and Young. No Cobbs, but still only 52 cards short of a 520 it's a heckuva leg up for someone starting on the T206 journey!

The Carl Frysinger Collection - If you've been following our auctions recently you've seen a lot of Carl's name. His goal was to collect one of every Phllies card from 1887 - 2023. Unfortunately Carl passed this fall but he made arrangements with us last Spring as he had received a terminal diagnosis. While he didn't complete his goal his collection is astonishing. In this auction you will find a bunch of Buchner Gold Coins, 1915 Cracker Jacks, a nice pile of M101-4 rare backs such as Block & Kuhl, Altoona Tribune and Successful Farming (many highest graded examples among those!) The highlight being Altoona Tribune Chief Bender in SGC 5 and Dave Bancroft in SGC 4.5. We are donating 1% of our portion of the proceeds to the Central PA Food Bank, a charity to which Carl and his wife were frequent donors.

A few fantastic Type 1 photos. From an amazing Harstook Studios youthful Babe Ruth in a Tux to an autographed Type 1 Rogers Hornsby to a couple of very cool Jack Johnson photos and more!

19th Century trade cards, premiums, postcards, publications, and European cards - mainly from baseball and boxing with a smattering of other sports.

Singles galore - Cobb, Ruth, Ted Williams, Cy Young, Gehrig plus tons of additional T206's and other Tobacco, Caramel, Magazine, 19th Century, Gum, and Strip cards.

As always don't hesitate to post questions here. Live preview starts on Wednesday May 15th. Auction will be in its completed form Sunday May 19th and runs for two weeks until June 2nd.

Absolutely hate when "complete sets" are sold all the while holding back significant card(s) only to auction off seperately.

What exactly do you hate about it? The only draw back I see is the very few looking to buy complete sets. For me there are several things I like about splitting them up.

The only set where that was done was the 1933 Goudey. I have a duty to my consignor and this is how he wanted to sell it. The T206 wasn't complete, and the 1934 Goudey is being sold complete as are a ton of smaller sets where we could've been pulling out cards of Babe Ruth, Jesse Owens or Joe Louis etc.

So at some point in the future when you sell your complete sets we will expect that you will sell each of them as a single lot, without splitting out any individual cards, thereby earning yourself a lower price.

Doug "actually, that's what I did when I sold my Topps collection, hahaha" Goodman
