To Grade or Not to Grade Video

Great video out by BCCID about whether or not to grade:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q8jVFFLSo9Y

Video is 12 minutes long.

I enjoyed this video and the breakdown of both cards.

Personally, over the last few years, I have seen more and more collectors grade things "just to grade things". I don't understand this mentality, especially when the cost doesn't cover the value of the card.

I do see the value in grading some cards, but I hope we get away from this "need to grade" thought.

I don't want this to come off of as rude, it's not meant to be but I just don't understand why other collectors are so concerned about what other collectors choose to grade.

The way I see it, it's a hobby and if somebody wants to grade a card that another views as worthless then so be it. It's their money and their collection, we all have our reasons or interests for collecting what we colect, that's why it's a hobby.

From a buyer’s perspective this is interesting because you could reverse the process and have guide on how much you should pay for a card.

Anyone can do what they want. But it seems there is a mentality (especially recently and with new collectors) that everything has to be graded. I disagree wholeheartedly with that sentiment.
