Old Tigers Ticket date?
Every time I run across an old ticket, I'm surprised I can't easily find an identification page on the internet (granted, a few teams have some dedicated fans/researchers that have done this, but for most I am at a loss). And why aren't I seeing many old graded Tigers tickets??
Anyway, here's my latest mystery: https://i.ibb.co/zVqg72C/IMG-3558.jpg Looks like my clues are: 1) President - Frank Navin (1908-1935) 2) Ticket design - Looks like 1908 and 1909 look very different, and 1910 and 1911 have a diamond design, but later tickets look pretty close to this for decades 3) Lack of War Tax - In 1918 MLB added a war tax to tickets, and I see taxes added to tickets through the 1930s 4) Ticket price - Grand Stand 75cents - I've found a 1913 ticket with a Pavilion 50c - I've found a 1918 ticket with Pavilion 55c (w/5c war tax) - I've found a 1920 ticket for Grand Stand $1.01 (w/ 20c tax) So I feel that my mystery ticket would be between 1912-1917 (since it isn't the old design, it has no war tax - and by 1920 the grand stand ticket price was higher) Research examples (But do I trust their dates??): "1909 Ticket" - labeled, totally different design https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/6Q8AA...YwM/s-l500.jpg 1910 Ticket - From a 1910 opening day scrapbook on Heritage https://i.ibb.co/Qv8Qmc1/Screen-Shot...7-56-57-PM.png 1911 Ticket - Hunt Auctions https://i.ibb.co/41d8jHs/1911-ticket.jpg "1913" Ticket - From a 1913 scrapbook, labeled on back with date https://i.ibb.co/RHBJL4x/1913-Ticket.jpg "1918 Ticket" - PSA labeled https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/CNcAA...~O6/s-l500.jpg "1920 ticket" - Date written on ticket, PSA labeled it "1920 1920s ticket" https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/6YUAA...uK6/s-l500.jpg And of course, I found an exact match, but with no info: https://www.worthpoint.com/worthoped...tub-2020763487 |
