Don't Want To Beat A Dead Hose But------

Broke this out of a PSA 8 and submitted to SGC. The only possible dewfect (if you want to call it a defect) would be a double print on the back (very light) and not noticeable when holding card in hand. Who messed up ,SA for not noticing or SGC for being absurd with the grade.

Oops. You were hoping for a 9 or 10?

cammb 08-01-2022 03:08 PM

I gladly would have taken a 7.

Robextend 08-01-2022 03:30 PM

I wouldn't have cracked that - SGC has gotten extremely tough on centering.

Also, not sure if it's the pic, but I see a couple imperfections on the bottom right.

ya...seems counter intuitive to crack a card like that out of a psa 8?

mrreality68 08-01-2022 03:46 PM

Just curious what was the reasoning for cracking it and getting it regraded?

cammb 08-01-2022 04:20 PM

I am in the process of completing a SGC graded 63 set, 6 or better. I am about 30 cards short and unfortuneately they are all commons

Peter_Spaeth 08-01-2022 04:24 PM

8 to a 4 that's pretty bad. OK so it isn't an 8 today maybe but still ridiculous. I have all sorts of cards I would submit now that fees are more reasonable if I thought they would be graded fairly, but I see threads like this and think why bother.

BillyCoxDodgers3B 08-01-2022 04:28 PM

Would it not have made more sense to send it to SCG in its PSA slab and request that they only crack it if it met your minimum requirement?

This thread was not about what I thought it would be about...thankfully

Me too. I was going to offer the OP my condolences on the death of his hose...

We are talking about an industry that will give a card with literally no corners a 5 but 1 pinhole makes it an automatic 1. I would rather just buy a card in the grade I want and call it a day. Way too much risk.

I would consider that to be a fairly major print defect. PSA just missed it. This is not an 8. Should it be a 4 though? I don't know, but I don't think the 4 is unfair. I wouldn't give it anything higher than a 5.

My 2-GAI 7's were 4' and 5'. My BCCGGGG 9 was a 5 and my BVG 6 was a 5. LOL I just did it for fun as I had never sent in raw cards to be graded so I played around with 20 nicer cards. 4 of those above were cracked out. I should listen to my own advice, LOL. I do like the SGC service and now I have more SGC graded cards too! I just like to waste money, but it was FUN WHEN THEY POPPEDDDDDDDDD
