Sgc grading on site at the national

Has anyone heard if SGC will be grading on site this year at the National ?

I’m holding out hope :-)

jbsports33 06-09-2022 11:14 AM

I am hoping they or PSA will - if not, just may not make the trip

I have heard they are both not doing onsite anything - maybe that will change

since PSA did on site last year, it would be strange for them not to this year. SGC did not last year.

gonefishin 06-09-2022 01:38 PM

I won't be making the Nationals, because it seems to be an East Coast event. The last one I went to was in Anaheim years ago and my daughter and I had a blast.

PSA is doing on-site grading at the Long Beach expo at the end of June. $150 a pop, so I would think the value has got to be there to make it worth it.

parkplace33 06-10-2022 04:19 AM

If they don’t, I think it is a missed opportunity. Why would a major grading company not be and not grading at the biggest card show if the year?

Sounds fun, get your pre-war "A" grade same day instead of 30 days later.

Good one, Phil.

Sadly the A's are not limited to just pre-war...yeah not for me right now.

They do not grade on site in long beach. They take them back to the office and grade them. It’s just down the road. Not close to the same logistics as moving a machine across the country along with staff. Not saying they won’t grade at national just pointing out long beach is not technically graded on site.

Johnny630 07-05-2022 06:00 AM

Less than a month to go until the National. We are hearing reports of SGC grading at record speeds....what’s the word for them grading On-Site at the National this year??? Anyone heard on new news ?

Hope they're not blowing it off again.

pkaufman 07-05-2022 07:31 AM

With three weeks to go before the National, you would think they would know what they are going to do. Wondering what the big secret is ? Unfortunately, they don't have time to respond to any phone calls or messages.

Looks like PSA announced plans July 12 last year.

PSA or at least one of their higher ups announced on Twitter a week or so ago that they will be doing on site grading (which they did last year) and accepting drop off submissions as well to take back for grading (which they did not do last year).

They have not announced prices etc yet.

According to the NSCC website, SGC has a 20 X 40 ft. Corporate Booth at the National in Atlantic City. Are they there to grade on-site or is this booth just for chit-chat and promotion ? Does anybody know ? Regards, Paul

For a company who prides themselves on being there for the collector they have done a shit job of letting anyone know what their intentions are. I would have thought that lead cheerleader Peter Steinberg would have made an announcement by now. Will be a game time decision I think. That is just the way this company is running right now.

Can just hear the video now...

Guys I know you have all been wanting to know what SGC's plans are for the National and because the show is weeks away I think this is the perfect time to let you all know what our intentions are. We are overwhelmed by all of your support of SGC these last couple of years. Without you guys we would not be here. We want to show you that we are listening so guys we have great news for you. Because you want us there grading on site we have listened and we will be in AC to grade on site. You are the reason SGC is thriving right now and this is the least we can do for all of your support.

That would be nice if a video like that came out, sadly I think SGC is going to pass on grading on site at the National. They don’t want to put the money out for it.

Jay Wolt 07-10-2022 07:18 AM

Has anyone contacted SGC to see what their National plans are?

pkaufman 07-11-2022 06:40 PM

They will not answer this question.

prestigecollectibles 07-11-2022 07:25 PM

For a company that prides themself on customer service. They don't receive phone calls, they don't allow submissions to be dropped off or picked up at their office on Boca and I've never seen them respond to any social media post comment. I would be very surprised if they announce on site grading at the National.

JMANOS 07-11-2022 07:44 PM

weak

CSG im telling ya

prestigecollectibles 07-11-2022 07:51 PM

Certified Collectibles Group (CCG) announced the promotion of Andy Broome to Vice President of CSG.

Basically you’ll get a T-Shirt, Hat, and stickers ….I know lame but unfortunately it is what it is.

Republicaninmass 07-12-2022 05:03 AM

Everything holdered as authentic...you guess the grade!

RCMcKenzie 07-12-2022 05:22 AM

Like 7 years ago I put in an online sub, and 10 minutes later someone that I thought was the owner called me to walk me through the process. Times have changed, I guess. I'm just glad to be here.

Lorewalker 07-18-2022 01:44 PM

Seems they are grading so fast right now (which is the primary criteria of their supporters) that they may have forgotten they are the only one of the top 4 to not only announce National plans but they might be the only one who will not be showing for onsite grading. Both concepts are very confusing to me, at least.

vthobby 07-18-2022 02:44 PM

still quicker......

You can send to SGC and get your cards graded faster than _ _ _ at the National on site. Type in any 3 letters you want. All for $30 each.

lol

Fast is awesome and their holder makes 1s look amazing. Consistently accurate grading matters more and the capitalist in me prefers cards in the holder which yields me the most money/value should I need to exit.

Presently there is only one company who checks both of those boxes based on my experience. Just as PSA supporters have to adapt to waiting, SGC supporters have to adapt for a lower ROI.

parkplace33 07-18-2022 07:41 PM

I am blown away that it is a week from the National and we still have no clue if/what SGC is doing at the National. That speaks volumes to me.

pkaufman 07-20-2022 06:05 PM

Where oh where is the SGC National on-site announcement ? Yes, you can ship cards to them for $30 per, but when you have irreplaceable cards that you cannot afford to lose in transport, I prefer to hand them to SGC at the National for on-site turn around. Yes, it is more expensive but I am happy to pay the freight for piece of mind. I have done this for many years until very recently.

pkaufman 07-21-2022 10:33 AM

SGC just announces National plans. No on-site encapsulation, but pre-grading available at $25 per card. Of course, drop off service is also allowed.

Curious as to why they waited so long to announce.

Pre Grading ? Come on? That’s so Beckett, dang. Oh well to bad maybe next year, ha yeah right. Sadly it seems, The boat has left the pier on SGC doing any I grading on site.

Do you gave a link to this Information?

BobbyStrawberry 07-22-2022 10:53 AM

What is pre-grading?

prestigecollectibles 07-22-2022 11:13 AM

I had to LMAO when he said "pretty much". So it is basically the same joke of a pre grade Beckett has. They will charge you but the pre grade can change when they grade it for real.:(

How great was that? "...pretty much count on the fact the grade is gonna stick." Peter has such an incredible future in politics. Peter can deliver horrible news and make you think you just got great news.

Peter_Spaeth 07-22-2022 01:45 PM

It appears this company has a niche and business model it's comfortable with and isn't looking to aggressively expand beyond it. People looking for it to do so are going to be disappointed. People who like it as is will continue to like it.

Lucas00 07-22-2022 01:55 PM

$25 for a raw grade review when the complete slabbed turnaround is $30 couple Just makes no sense.
Really the only reason I would use it personally is if I had cards that I were questioning authenticity on.. and I have none.

I could be wrong, Peter made it sound to me that the $25 fee is for any and all cards no matter the value.

$2500 Max value.
40% off when you decide to get a pre grade encapsulated.

As I posted...that Peter can deliver horrible news to you and you will end up thanking him profusely as you complete your communication with him. Standing O for Mr. Steinberg. He should be listed as an Asset on SGC's balance sheet.

Aquarian Sports Cards 07-22-2022 09:02 PM

so $25 to pre grade and $18 to encapsulate. Why would you spend $43 instead of $30?

Casey2296 07-22-2022 09:18 PM

SGC is sorely in need of someone who knows how to market their product.

lowpopper 07-22-2022 10:47 PM

Shhh!!!! Peter went to a great deal to tell all us all what an incredible opportunity it is. Now you just ruined it by injecting common sense.

You don’t. People who aren’t good and determining for themselves what the condition of a card is will use this service at the National with SGC, then immediately turn around and submit the card to PSA! LOL
