Attention all well-read DiMaggio/Yankees aficionados
May be an unusual request but if I could get an answer this is the place… I once read a story somewhere about one of DiMaggio’s fellow Yankees bemoaning the fact that when DiMaggio was quiet and didn’t say much…the press would assume he was contemplating something important….but when the fellow team member was quiet they just thought he was dull or unintelligent…or something like that… If I recall correctly the story may have revolved around a scene at Toots Shores Can anyone recall the story and source… thanks |
Quote I found online regarding Toots Shor (no e on shore)
The Yankees are in the back with that gin soaked Gotham Gang of sportswriters hoisting a few. The Mick has a snot full already, and Whitey and Yogi are on their way. Jolting Joe is quiet at his table. Even Sinatra doesn't bother him. |
Thanks boss...but that's not it...
