Best Movies of 2019 Thread

New movies only. . . . what's the best new movies you saw this year.

I'd say

Joker
Parasite
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
The Irishman

... probably in that order.

Midway had very good battle scenes, though the dialogue was a bit clichéd.

I went to two movies this year, the first time I had been in a theater in years. Downton Abbey and Ford vs Ferrari. Both were great. I plan to go back again in 4-5 years.

I really liked the anti-hate satire Jojo Rabbit! Peanut Butter Falcon was fun, as were Booksmart and Knives Out. Amazing Grace and the Linda Ronstadt movie were excellent, from the musical documentary category.

Honeyland - a beautiful documentary
Parasite - heard the raves, saw it, still jumped up on me

The Irishman - haven't seen it (nor Roma from 2018) since I refuse to be extorted by Netflix. Suppose I'm just a fossil.

Linda Ronstadt doc was awesome! Def in my top 10. What a life. If you love pop music from the 70s find it.

I'm glad to hear that it's so good. I've been a Ronstadt fan for a long, long time.

The documentary doesn't air here until new year's day...so, I guess I'll miss some football...

Hi Steve

A big DITTO ! to what you said. My wife and I saw this 2-hour special last nite. We remember Linda Ronstadt starting with the late 1960's. An unbelievable multi-talented artist.
A documentary well done, and certainly worth watching.

The Art of Racing in the Rain - perfect vehicle for Kevin Costner's monotone delivery.

A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood- I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Rogers in person. Excellent portrayal by Tom Hanks. Great premise for the movie.

Peanut Butter Falcon - Very enjoyable. I did not see the chick porn Fifty Shades movies so I had no perception of Dakota Johnson. She was quite good in this. Her father could actually watch this performance.

The Joker is about as real as it can get for a madman.
