Ad Liska

One of my too numerous collection projects is autographs of former Nebraska Cornhuskers that made it to the majors. In the Pre-War era this comprises of one man, Ad Liska. Liska spent a couple years each with the Senators and Phillies before spending most of the reminder of his professional career in the PCL. Just acquired this signed PC of Liska.

I have seen a Kashin card for Liska. Anyone that has cards or material of him I would love to see it.

Without seeing the back, I don't think that's a postcard, but rather a Kashin Publications 5"x7" premium that is signed by Liska. Nice pickup!

I love seeing obscure items like your Kashin. Thanks for showing it. Rick

Cool item. I know that Dave E. has a nice collection of Liska items that I believe he got from a family member.

Dustin nice Liska piece.
Here's a check & signed pc I have in my check collection.
Liska had 198 wins w/ the PCL's Portland Beavers, most in their franchise
& counting his years w/ the Phillies & Senators, he pitched from 1929 to 1949

Here are a few items, including his Dwight, Nebraska high school baseball team photo. I'll bet you can pick him out in the photo.

I have (7) pieces of correspondence for Ad Liska that I got when I was collecting personal checks. I bought a lot from some auction that had (3) Liska checks and some other stuff along with this correspondence. Which can be YOURS if you'll PM me your shipping address. Better to find a home in your collection where it can be enjoyed. I would list it on ebay but doubt it would provide a huge financial windfall.

Tom,

Thank you for the incredibly kind offer! Will pm you.

Edited to add: That 2nd letter from the Bloomington club is really great! It might as well say "Look noodle arm, you're lucky anyone lets you near the mound after the way you threw last season." I had to go check but Ad never did sign with them. He spent that year pitching for Omaha in the Class A Western League. I assume he thought if he was going to have be sent down to A ball he was at least going to be close to home. He did rebound with a winning record that year and signed with Portland the next season. At the time he got that letter though who would have predicted he was going to continue pitching another 15 seasons. Really cool snapshot of his career at a crossroads.

Nice pickup! Such a clean signature.

Great shot to the right of the County Commissioner letter. Is that a press photo?
