My new auction strategy
Rather than stay up to all hours and get in bidding wars (after a few glasses of wine) my new strategy is to lay down a half dozen reasonable slightly winning winning bids that are leading at closing time, and then just assume I will lose the majority of them and maybe win none, one or maybe two. Zero stress. Got to bed and get my beauty sleep, and wake up to see what happened. If I crap out, no big deal. Card will be in another auction next month.

My strategy as well. I usually wake up disappointed, but more often than not, relieved. And once in awhile, I win.

That " relieved " that you didn't win is a strange phenomenon. I've experienced that too. |
I will agree with the "cutting out the wine" part. Drinking and bidding do not mix well when you're on a budget! :D

That strategy works well for T206's and the like but when you are collecting 1-of-a-kind rarities and such, not such a great plan. Next month will never/may never come...... |
Definitely agree. If you need one card to complete a set and have been waiting for years... Well, all bets are off. Good point.
