1918 Washington AL Tickets

Wondering if anyone here has any Washington Senators tickets in their collections known to be from 1918? WW1-era tickets seem relatively scarce in general, and scanning the usual places I can't find any other examples from Washington's 1918 season.

Post 'em if you have any. Any 1910's Senators tickets for that matter would be interesting to see.

The two tix I'm posting came out of a scrapbook that was put together by someone who lived in Washington for only one baseball season (1918) and the scrapbook also has many other tickets from the theatre etc, all dated 1918...so I'm fairly certain in saying these Senators tickets are from 1918 as well. Benjamin Minor (fac. sig on ticket) was owner from 1912 up through 1919/20...

Washington Senators 1918 tickets

Hi Ray,
A close friend of mine named Dan recently released an excellent book on the Washington Senators (Washington Senators 1868-1939). Dan is the go to guy when it comes to early vintage tickets, but he is especially strong when it comes to Senators tickets.

In his book he has tickets from the 1917 and 1920 seasons, but no 1918 tickets pictured. The ticket font is different on the 1917 ticket and the Grand Stand tickets were $.75, not $.77. I suspect that you are 100% correct on the vintage. Likewise, his ticket from 1920 has a higher price than your 1918 ticket.

Dan would undoubtedly be interested in these tickets if you would like to sell them.
PM me if you are interested in contacting him directly.

I hope this helps! Happy holidays.

Thanks, Scott. Great info and good to have some corroboration on the probability of the 1918 date. I'll have to look up the book you mentioned.

Dan Busby's book is new and is self-published. I received a copy as a gift. I would check on amazon.com as a starter, but will check on that for you.

1918 Senators Tickets

Here is a pair of Senator tickets I recently acquired from a Washington D.C. longtime paper/postcard collector.

The top one is probably late 1920s/early 1930s.

The bottom one is dated 1918 and is a special ticket for WW1 soldiers in uniform. Date stamped on the front good for the July 7, 1918 game.
