Top Topps sets! Lets put it to a vote

There is currently a thread that started in 2009 in this forum asking for a vote on the #1 Topps set of all time. I would like to put that very question to a vote starting with the 1950's, then I'll move on in time with the 1960's then the 70's. If all goes well with the voting, we can then have the three go head to head to head to get a winner.
Use your own criteria to vote.. design, eye appeal, backs, etc. etc. etc. I know the '52 is far and away the most valuable but is it the best or just most expensive? Happy voting.

wow! i voted 53 without seeing the vote tally and was gonna say 52 should be discarded simply because of cult status and that it would naturally be catapulted to the front runner...

however 53 is whooping ass, as well as it should!

nevermind: only 3 people have voted. ha!

LOL... Yeah, I think you were the first voter. I've left the poll open for 7 days to hopefully have a good sample size. Not as many people visit over this way as they do the main board.

Excellent Idea. Neat to have the three decades go head to head, I would be suprised though the 1950's winner does not win it however.

I voted for 1956, just overall player selection is just unmatched, well 1959 is there too, but the 1956 is just a way better design. So, if this was an overall vote, I'd have to go with 1956.

i choose 56 over 53, but between those 2, they got the bigger eye appeal and head shots i like.

1957, 1953

I do have to admit, I am surprised at the vote total so far for 1952 topps!

It is a little surprising to me too. We do have a clear cut favorite right now and one set that cant get out of the starting box

The biggest surprise for me is the 58 set. I love the color of the cards, and it just scream's the 1950's.

Only two days left to vote for the top Topps set of the 1950's, would love to get as many votes as possible to determine the winner... After voting ends Friday I will move it along to the 1960's.
Thanks for voting! :)

Thanks everyone for your votes for the 1950s sets... looks like we are going to have a pretty clear cut winner. I will open a new thread with the 1960's card shortly.

thanks again for playing :)

How can we have a "pretty clear cut winner" when Brooksie wasn't even in this set?!?;)

LOL! Maybe I should have put a disclaimer under the '57 set advising voters: contains B. Robinson RC. :)

Irony on the greatest defensive third baseman ever.... he actually holds the record for hitting INTO the most triple plays in MLB history (4)

Brooksie (1957 Topps set)

If you need to put in a disclaimer under the '57 set I guess that would be alright with me. :D

You're close, Brooks was/is the greatest third baseman ever. As for the record of most hit into triple plays. The way I look at it he started 3 triple plays so really he only hit into 1 triple play; now that's logic at its best ;)
