1953 Bowman Mantle question

I came across this card and the condition of the card is very nice except the markings on it. Is this a common issue with this set? I can't tell what it is. It's not sticky and there is no texture to it. No scuffs nothing. Can it be removed without "altering" the card?

Also how would a card like this grade?

Thank you for your help.

Jon

ugh!

It almost looks like another smaller card or something was on top of this card as the center is clean and you can see a border on the inside.

Looks like splatter of turpentine or some finish? Mold? As is, it would most likely grade a 1 across the board. If you are into it cheap enough, it might be worth a try soaking it but you would have to ask around as that stuff looks nasty. If it is indeed in the card and not raised on the surface, the chances of it cleaning off are very low. Just my opinion.

I was kinda thinking that someone need a rectangle on a water color and placed the card on the painting a painted around it and vwalla a rectangle. I don't think it's mold. The card looks stained. A very nice card without whatever this stuff is.

WOW! Look at those corners! What a shame! Certainly worth a try on a small spot to see if it might come off.

I'd try a soft cloth & a drop or 2 of water to start and see if it fazes it at all--you never know!

I wouldn't mess with it at all if it were mine. I would send it to this guy...

...I believe '' vwalla'' shoud be in italics , since it is a foreign word . A very very foreign word.:)

I speak some French. It's "Voilą".

Has anyone on the board used this service? If so, do you have a review? Any idea what processes are used?

Thanks.
