What was best two items you seen at Nationals

What two items were most awesome to you at the Nationals. I know it will be hard to choose, so I started this early into the weekend to give you a chance to decide what to list, and lets hear what they are.
If you can, include pictures.

Since I only do autographs I would have to say a Willie Keeler signed book and a Frank Chance signed letter, both at the same vendor.

If you get a chance (no pun intended) would you take a photo of the Keeler? Thanks very much.

Unfortunately (fortunately for my bank account), I was in and out yesterday, but it is the same Keeler item that was sold here: (Didn't even ask the price)

I didn't even bother asking price.

That's what I thought. Thanks!

The John Moore Trophy

I don't know about the second best I'd have to think about that....but I don't need to ponder the best piece I saw...see below...coming up in an SCP Auction...called the John Moores Trophy c1938...49” tall, 17” wide and 17” deep...I was standing there looking over Darrel O'Mary's booth and Jeff Mann asked me if I'd seen "that trophy"...he described it and I darted...phew!...then as I was checking it out John Kanuit walks up and was shocked by it...Came out of the Helms Museum in Los Angeles...

Carlton,
Thank you for the photos, what an amazing piece, wow. Break the piggy banks guys, this may be going for big bucks when it comes up for auction.

ruth-gehrig 08-01-2014 07:27 PM

Made of sterling silver my God what do you think it weighs? It looks enormous!!

BradH 08-01-2014 07:57 PM

Wow

Thanks for sharing pics of the trophy, Carlton. Very cool piece.

I wonder if this was a traveling trophy? The auction description says it's circa 1938, but the side panel shows the winners of the 1938, '39 and '40 competition, as well as 1956 and '60. Interesting that Hawaii is listed as the winner in 1960 - they were already a U.S. state by then (1959 I think?).

If you're there, check out the 1915 Boston Red Sox panorama with Ruth at Memory Lane. I'm not a money person and often enjoy most the little, inexpensive curiosities that might have been found at a flea sale, but that's a big ticket item that definitely caught my eye. It's not for sale, but I guessed the value and it was nearly the same as their estimate. For the record, the two people at their booth with whom I chatted about the photo were very friendly to me.

billyb 08-03-2014 08:12 PM

I guess he is up there because it is a "ball" game trophy.............I already hear the groans with that one.

Jewish-collector 08-04-2014 11:51 AM

Carlton - If you decide to bid on it, I hope you win it. It would fit nicely in your collection !!!

+1. There wasn't much in those cases that wasn't jawdropping.
