What was Mrs. Fawnley doing reversing that photo?

That's a very interesting question. We've seen a few reversed image prints used as press photos, so it wasn't unheard of - I have one of Gehrig sliding into home...from first base. Perhaps Mrs. Fawnley had recently reversed an image and one of her coworkers was poking fun at her?

Uniforms

Cool pics. Good Lord those uniforms look uncomfortable. What type of belts did they use? I do not see a belt buckle.

It is early evidence of the right 'winged' conspiracy against us lefties...always trying to corrupt us and cover up evidence of any southpaw talent.

That Killian photo is great. That pose was the first T206 I bought back in the early 80's and when I divested most of my non-Brooklyn White Borders, I hung on to it. It's such a great image.

I have seen the name Fawley associated with other T206 images. Not quite sure where she fits in, either the photography or the lithography??

Scott, my guess is that she was tasked with preparing the print for publication.

Great pictures! How many does this make that have made it to t206resource? Any more waiting to be added?

She was probably the engraver (or the person who prepared photos to be engraved) at the Sporting News or whatever newspaper these were originally the property of. They would reverse the images for engraving before the technology of using photographs in newspapers became common. You would reverse them, then trace them with pencil to leave an outline, then that image taken off the reverse could be artistically added to the paper to show up the right way (like a mirroring effect). Just a hunch on who she was.

Scott, rotated slightly this lines up quite well, hand position has been changed.
