on site grading

I need to cross over an sgc graded card to psa. At a show, such as philly, will they do it right then and there? I figure if I can save the $18 shipping charge then I can just wait for the next philly show.

Are you a member of PSA's club?

Before they will grade a card, crossover or not, you will need to be a member of PSA's Collectors Club. The lowest level is $110 for the year, but that includes 6 "complimentary" gradings. I don't know if that would include crossovers. I would assume so, but I'd like somebody to confirm that please.

I've been to the Philly Show a few times in the last year and my recollection is that PSA does not grade on-site there.

For several years now PSA has not had that strict policy - you do not have to be in the PSA Collectors Club to submit cards for grading.

My understanding is that you have to be a Collector's Club member to directly submit to PSA. When did this change? Last I looked about six months ago, that was still on their website.

No, it hasn't been that way in the long time; at least since 2009 when I got back into cards.

Thanks, Daryl. I wish they'd update their website then, because that's misleading.

Q: How do I go about getting my cards/tickets graded by PSA?
A: Become a member of our Collectors Club. and enjoy the benefits of direct submission privileges. Once a member, please refer to your Collectors Club welcome package or the Submission Center for submission instructions. Some PSA Authorized Dealers will submit items on your behalf; please check with the Dealer to find out if this is a service they offer.

^This.

You only have to be a Collector's Club Member to take advantage of the specials. You can submit w/o a membership, but only on their regular service levels.

At the Philly Show, only SGC grades onsite. Takes about 2 hours, and costs around $25.00 a card.

PSA & Beckett take submissions for grading, but don't offer on-site grading at that show.

So if I submit it there, I'm probably not avoiding the shipping charge.

Just my opinion, but if you have some high value cards, I always liked getting mine graded on site. I don't have to worry about packing up & shipping the cards out, and then paying for return postage & insurance.

I'm not sure how many cards you have or the values, but I always took advantage of their show special.

Just my 2 cents.

It's a sgc 40 Joe Kelley. From everyone on this board, seems as though psa doesn't grade on site at the philly show.
