Hello
First I want to say that I absolutely love this forum. I am a long time collector and am glad I found this site with like minded people who love and respect this hobby. Now for my question. I have a customer who wants to trade a 1933 Goudey Babe Ruth #181 that he says was from his grandfathers collection. Like most of you I have heard the "grandfather" story before but this gentleman seems to be honest and he regulars my booth at card shows often. I hope someone could give me some feedback as to if this card is authentic. I have seen some good fakes before. So before I make the trade I would appreciate you guys help. I will try to upload a few images. Attachment 115356

Can you post clear straight on pictures of the front and more importantly the whole back?

Rhymes w/baloney...I think...I don't like the wrinkling and the borders look odd?

If it's a reprint it's an older one.

Yuck, run the other way. That crinkling is not a good sign. You can compare it to this other low grade but authentic one..

The left hole(looks like a button) on his hat does not look right. Real cards that I have seen show the whole hole area. Your card looks like the front of the Renato Golasso reprint.

Here's a PSA 7 where the borders are "weird", and the buttonhole looks different.... I don't think it's disqualified yet.

I don't like it all. The red "Big League Chewing Gum" section at the bottom of the card should not line up with the portrait borders like that.

The wrinkling is brown and characteristic of soaking a glossy reprint with tea or another artificial agent. Run away. Fast. Never look back.

I appreciate everyone's input and agree with you all. I feel better about turning it down now. I will run from it!! It's sad that we have to be so pessimistic about these cards but its reality!! You get your hopes up that maby this is the real thing just to be let down over and over. Again I thank you all for the help!

Similar wrinkling to this famous card!
