Williams and Mantle Autos, real or fake

Hi all,
A local auction house has an estate sale going and these are two of the items, photos of Williams and Mantle with autographs and authenication Certs. But I don't like the Williams, and don't trust the company who did the authentication,. I have never heard of Legends Authenications, LLC. Can anyone tell me it real or fakeAttachment 99116

Thanks Shelly, I was in doubt over these. I believe, because it is an estate sale, the owner does not know if they real or fake.

It's not like you need another opinion after Shelly's but I concur. Bad, bad, bad.

SCM,
I agree, I respect Shelley opinions. It is just crazy how many fakes there are out there. I normally do not buy autographs because I do not know much about them, and even I had my doubts, but I had to ask.

shelly 05-14-2013 03:29 PM

It never hurts to ask it only hurts when you don't:) Most of the people are pretty spot on. They all like to help if they can.

Bill:

You were smart to ask. I got burned once when I bought an autograph at an estate sale. And I am willing to bet that the person running the sale knew damn well what they were selling. Congratulations on not being sucked in.

sflayank 05-14-2013 04:44 PM

triple crown

yes...good eye

shelly 05-14-2013 04:54 PM

Uda cert?

sflayank 05-14-2013 05:01 PM

triple crown

how do u know that

shelly 05-14-2013 05:07 PM

That is how I make the big bucks. :D The only company that produced the triple crown ball that is authentic.

Thanks John,
All of you have been helpful, what a great site. There are a few other items in that auction, one is an autographed card of Bobby Doerr, but that is PSA authenticated with DNA.

Whose DNA?

All DNA comes from the authenticators, it is one of the requirements of working for PSA. :D

"HEARBY GUARENTEES"? Really?

I guess they had someone sign the autographs that was a better speller than the one they had make up the certificates. :D

Timz,
I didn't even notice the spelling mistake, that takes the cake, lol, what a joke. Thanx Timz
This auction is in Michigan and the auction house is info@letstalkauction.com
There are several other items up for sale with autographs, Aaron, Musial, Doerr, Feller
I notified the Auction company about the Mantle and Williams autographs and spelling on the certificate. Waiting for their answer.

If you are serious, it was a joke

billyb 05-15-2013 08:07 PM

Wymars,
There is a photograph of Bobby Doerr at the same auction that states PSA/DNA certified. I said card earlier, but I was going by memory and that is usually a mistake.

I just received an email from the Mio Auction House, in Mio Michigan, and they were receptive about the information on the autographs. They researched on line and found that Legends is on the band list on ebay, and said they will leave the items up for auction, but will post the information about Legends reputation, and the negative feedback they found on line. So it is a buyers beware notice up with the items.
If they do that, that's good enough for me.

If you give anyone a chance to buy something that is not authentic then you are saying ok go for it. If it is not authentic take it down.

Shelly,
I agree with you, but I cannot order him to take it down. This is better than the auction house doing nothing. If people can read, they probably will stay away, I hope. I told the auction owner, his integrity is worth more then a few dollars, so I hope he got the hint. He seems cooperative in his emails.

shelly 05-15-2013 10:15 PM

You did the right thing. It is up to him

Mike I thought it was a joke, but did not want to let Richard off the hook that easily. I do think the PSA/DNA thing is silly. DNA makes people think of a scientific test that has 99.99% accuracy far from what we receive by any authenticator.

shelly 05-22-2013 08:11 PM

Harlen Warner started the DNA. He thought if he used a pen that would show that On Line Authentics said an item was bad or good they could trace it back so they would not be caught doing the same item and saying a different result. It did not work then and it is a joke today.:p
