Funny story

I went antique shopping yesterday. One of the display cases had a pile of at least 50 Pete Rose rookie cards that were all severely evenly faded, for $8 each. There was also 5 Babe Ruth autograph cards, and 3 Ty Cobb autographs for $49.95 each. The Pete Rose cards were bogus, along with everything else in the case. An employee pointed it out to me, and that there was nothing she could do, even though she knew what I knew.

I suggested that the idiot only put out one at a time, and he might actually sell something. This case has been there every time I visit the store. Been there for a long time. What a moron!

The good news is that I picked up a Sovereign cigarette pack for $5.

That's a great story.

I would love to see a picture of the Sovereign pack if you had one. Congrats on the pick-up.

Thanks.

The sovereign pack I picked up is a 12 count pack. NOT period. For $5, I don't care. Some day I'll find a PERIOD one.

Here's the sovereign pack. 12 count, shrink wrapped for protection.

Love the pic of that 52 Mantle thrown in the pen and pencil jar like it's a rubber band or a paper clip! Fantastic! :)

I wonder if those $5 bills in his case are real? :D

Reminds me of the time several years ago when I was in Washington and stopped in a used bookstore run by a charitable organization. The man who was overseeing the store would periodically pick out a book and write something in each one. After watching him do this to several books, I asked him what he was doing. He replied, very candidly, that the books always seemed to sell better if he wrote the author's name on the title page! Caveat emptor....

See you all in Baltimore where I'll be signing T206 beaters!

Cheers,
Mike
