Yet another "are these real?" thread, help please

My father in law bought these a couple weeks ago and asked me if they are authentic. I never saw these in person before so I wouldn't know either way.

The fronts are glossy on both, and you can see light thru them if that helps.

Sorry for the large scans, I figured better scans = better answers.

Thanks in advance!

Yes, those are real.

Thanks! They came from a new ebay seller who got them from his grandfather's estate. They didn't cost him much, maybe he got lucky.

Thanks again!

Thanks again! Here's the exact description from ebay. Almost every known red flag!

OK I HAVE THESE 2 CARDS LOOKED AT AND WAS TOLD THEY ARE ORIG. CARDS THERE ARE NO REPRINT STAMPS ON THEM. MY GRANDFATHER HAD ALOT OF THESE CARDS I REMEMBER GROWING UP LOOKING AT THEM, WHEN HE PASSED MY FATHER WAS GOING THROUGH HIS STUFF AND FOUND THESE 2, I HAVE KNOW USE FOR THEM AND WAS HOPING FOR SOMEBODY ELSE TO GET THEM THAT WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE THEM FOR WHAT THEY ARE. THEY WERE PASSED OUT IN FATIMA CIGARETTE PACKAGES IN THE EARLY 1900`S I WILL BE HAPPY TO ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS TO THE BEST OF BY KNOWLEDGE . MY RESERVE IS NOT THAT HIGH SO HAPPY BIDDING.

Fatima T222s are glossy on front and thin. Yours sound authentic. The wrinkles like that on the on are common for that card too. They actually are paper photographs with tobacco advertising printed on back.

You're right about the description having EVERY red flag known. I would have guessed fake based only on the writeup!

Just about every red flag in the book. The only thing that could have made it better is if it were on Craigslist.

----Red Flags ?????---Red Flags ????

.........We doan see no steenking red flags ?? In fact I have my auto-search e-mail notification set to the key phrases '' was told original'' , ''doesn't say ' Reprint' '' , and '' grandfather''.....now let me get back to my Craig's List.

Your father-in-law was fortunate. Buying those and not knowing what he was buying can be a dangerous combination. Those are great cards, from an intriguing series!!!! A very difficult series to complete.

Pup6913 06-02-2012 09:29 AM

At this rate your gonna get burned. No risk no reward though. Another nice snag and a neat set of cards. Congrats on the pickup

jimq 06-02-2012 11:21 AM

He's been burned, I thought he was burned again with these things. But he finally started using a credit card with paypal instead of the bank transfer, so hopefully he won't get burned any more.

Thanks again for all the help!
