Hunt Auction Pick Ups
1 Attachment(s)
Seemed like there were a lot of good buys today.. How'd everyone make out. I walked away with one lot, so I'm happy. I've had a lot of endorsed H&B bats, but never a Lajoie, so I was glad to pick it up.

Nothing for me today Matt, but great pick up on the bat...

Nothing for me either this time. I thought the prices realized in Hunts were quite high, and Hunts further indicated that they had more bidders for this auction than any in the previous few years.
Maybe it signals a turnaround in the economy? Some of the lots went crazy (both high and low-end). On a side-note, I'm always amazed at how few people post major auction house winnings on this board.... Especially when compared to the Card side. Maybe they just haven't found the Memorabilia Board yet, or simply prefer to remain anonymous. |
I Won This
Good auction, very thin from an in-person attendee perspective (meaning few on site bidders/bids).

That's a really sweet piece Jeff! Nice pick up.

I won an item and then when I went in to check it says DNS. Does that mean there was a reserve I did not know about or something?

I was interested in the 1920 High School Baseball Team Photo w/Lou Gehrig but did not bid because the auction house was not able to give me a year(s) of issue other than to say it is a 1920's - 1930's piece as described. After the auction, it appears that the item did not sell anyway despite a nearly $1,000 max bid........

I TRIED to win the 1960 Louisville Colonels uniform with hat but was unsuccessful. I bid and bid and stopped when someone outbid me at $800. Then I thought and thought and finally upped it to $850 and then was outbid again. Oh well.....I have a replica 1960 jersey and 1946 real jersey and 1969 home and away uniforms. The 1960 would have been a nice addition. Que sera sera. I did win a couple lots of the brass dies that are used to burn the names into the bats. Was happy with that. No one big but still a nice addition to my Louisville Slugger stuff.....

Those brass dies are pretty cool.... congrats, Tom!

DNS means, although you might have been the high bidder on the internet portion, you are still subject to being outbid by the "LIVE" portion of the auction.....it was a hybrid auction.
PS - that is if it said DNS on Thursday/Friday. If it still said DNS after the "live" portion of the auction was over, that means the lot did not meet a reserve. |
It was after the live portion. I am surprised that a $2,500 bid before the BP did not take the Ted Kennedy (baseball player not the polititican) archive, but that is life I guess.
