Zinn Beck Bat Photo Match
 

Thought I'd share this interesting discovery.
I just purchased a vintage photo of former ballplayer and bat maker Zinn Beck holding one of his post-career game bats. The bat looked familiar to me, so I checked the Beck bat I have in my collection, and sure enough -- the same two diagonal black marks near his name appear in both the photo and on my bat.
He must have autographed the bat shortly after the photo was taken.
Not the most earth shattering discovery, but I got a kick out of it!

Thats cool Greg....but you would have figured he would have made his own bat, at that time! LOL

That is really interesting. What is the significance of the 1929 date written on the bat? Clearly it was written later.

Mark -- I haven't been able to figure out the significance of 1929 -- he played in the minors until 1927, then managed into the 1930s. My best guess is that he was confused about the date and/or the year the bat was made.
