An Unexpected Act of Kindness

I thought I would share this story with the board as it was totally unexpected and led to me finding the hallmark piece for my Bluegrass League collection. Most of you have seen my posts about blue grass league cards and related items and the other day I posted in the thread about what your favorite card in your collection is. Mine of course was my T210 Series 6 Fred Toney card since I am from winchester ky originally. I got an email from a fellow board member saying that he had a orignial RPPC of the 1909 winchester team that had fred toney in the photo. He mailed the postcard to me to look over it and when I emailed him back to let him know it arrived he told me it was mine for free saying that some things were meant for specific people to have. I was speechless and thanked him for the gift. I will of course not put the fellow board members name up here but I could not believe it. That is Mr Fred Toney himself standing 3rd from the left.

this is indeed a wonderful story to read.
acts of kindness do abound on this fine board. i still am quite proud of a Cycle pack sent to me gratis from a great Net 54 friend!!! thanks for sharing, best, barry |
Thanks for the replies
Thanks for the replies, it is cool to have a actual photo to go along with the Goostree and toney winchester cards I have. Thanks for putting up the goostree on auction David. I have one other winchester player callahan, but he did not start in the bluegrass league until 1910 so he is not in this photo. You will also notice a player Ellis in this photo, he appears in the T210 series 6set but he was playing for Lexington in 1910 so he appears with the Lexington Colts in the set. If only I could find the roughly seven or eight more winchester players I need to finish the winchester team now.

I had a very similar story happen to me earlier this week. A fellow member sent me this rppc for free because he thought it belonged in my collection. Absolute great guy and I hope that I can return the favor to someday. You may or may not believe in Karma or whatever you want to call it. I tend to believe that people like this will get double the return. Thank you.

very special indeed.
kudos to you. and him. |
Great stories.
I agree, acts of kidness will be repaid in some way in kind(and more). Thank God. Frank |
This is what the hobby is all about. Congrats on the wonderful PC's, and thanks to the two board members for showing exceptional generosity!

There's still a bit of good in this old world of ours. Both the benefactor and the recipient are blessed. Thanks for posting the event, and that fine image. I love the scribbling on there.

Great story. Thanks for posting.

Great story, and to whoever did that- I send much respect to you. That was a very nice thing to do.
Sincerely,Clayton |
Incredible gesture. I only hope Mike O'Keeffe reads this and includes it in his next "story" on the hobby.

Great Story
That is truly wonderful
What does it say on the bottom of the postcard. It looks like "Horn Monkees" to me? Seems an odd team nickname! |
Horn's Monkees. Horn is one of the players, or the manager, or something.
|
truly a great story. It;s heartening to know that collecting is not always about the $$, but about goodwill and friendship
|
Good stuff and great to hear about!
Hope all is well! Bob |
