collectors in Ohio speak up

I was just curious how many members on the forum here are from Ohio ? Chime in if you care to. I live outside of Dayton near the Antiques capital of the Midwest ...LOL

AndyG09 04-08-2010 07:49 AM

Chico's!

Dave,

Love the logo! That has been the name of my fantasy baseball team for 12 years. Great movie!

Best,

Andy

Matt 04-08-2010 08:05 AM

I'm in the East Cleveland suburbs.

BobbyVCP 04-08-2010 08:09 AM

Born in Columbus but escaped when I was 6, still a Buckeye fan though.

T206DK 04-08-2010 08:39 AM

Bobby, do you collect N172's at all. I remember buying some from a guy named Bobby and I think he lived in Columbus. are there any good card shops in the Columbus area ? Shops and shows here in the Dayton market are few and far between.

yes the Chico's Bail Bonds logo has long been a favorite of mine. You would be surprised at how many people don't know what movie it's from !

Jim VB 04-08-2010 08:46 AM

Not a native, but I spend 10 good years in Ohio (Columbus area) from 1995 - 2005.

vintage 04-08-2010 08:55 AM

Me! I'm new here and I live outside Circleville, the pumpkin capital of the midwest.

Jim,

You're tellin' me! :) They're definitely a talented team (were ranked #1 in the state).

The head coach is currently my high school teacher for International Business. Great guy.

Oldtix 04-08-2010 09:23 AM

I live in Columbus; we started a SABR group through the Clippers last fall. Good sports, good people, good for antiquing!

Doug 04-08-2010 09:47 AM

I'm in the eastern Cincinnati area (hence the Bearcat logo) :)

HBroll 04-08-2010 10:20 AM

By the way Turner, continually reminding us just how young you still are just pisses us off!

Ice dancing.

Jim VB 04-08-2010 11:04 AM

The obligatory....

Not that there's anything wrong with that!

Jacklitsch 04-08-2010 11:11 AM

My car broke down in Zanesville back in 1966. That's about my only connection with Ohio.

vintage 04-08-2010 11:32 AM

Not a very fun place to break down. I've got family there...they are scary. :)

tbob 04-08-2010 11:33 AM

Lived one year in Hamilton, Ohio when I was 12 and played in the State baseball tournament. They closed down the Whirlpool plant there, though, and we were off to St. Joe, Michigan.

caramelcard 04-08-2010 11:38 AM

Leon,

Now you have them all together in one thread. The OHIO players. :p

Rob

T206DK 04-08-2010 11:43 AM

Ohio is a great place to live. I will represent the Northwest part of the state. I live in Maumee a suburb of Toledo.

Best wishes,

Joe

Sorry to say I was not dealing cards at the tender age of 6

Leon 04-08-2010 12:51 PM

Ohio

Ohio- there must be at least 1 real baseball card there, I just haven't found it yet. For some reason there seems to be a very high proportion of tainted cards from this state. regards

paulcarek 04-08-2010 01:30 PM

I live in California now, but grew up in Bowling Green, home of the National Tractor Pulling Championships. My brother was the captain of the Ohio State baseball team for two of his four years there.

rc4157 04-08-2010 01:53 PM

I'm about 40 minutes west of Dayton and yes, Leon...... a couple of my cards are genuine:D

I was born and raised in Springboro, but currently live in Michigan. I still am in Dayton/Cincy area every month or two. I also have family in Wilmington.

cfc1909 04-08-2010 03:00 PM

looks like Ohio stepped up to the plate and hit a Home Run...

terjung 04-08-2010 03:42 PM

Born and raised in Akron, after college I got married and moved to Cinci for 6 years. About 7 years ago, we moved to Florida. Still love to reminisce about my old stomping grounds in NE Ohio though. Still pull for the Buckeyes too (except for when they are playing Purdue).

GRock 04-08-2010 06:45 PM

Count me in, Go Reds.

dell webb 04-08-2010 07:23 PM

Grew up in NE Ohio, but left awhile back and live in Philly now. Avid Tribe Fan to this day, and I probably should be a better Browns fan but its been quite difficult to take over the years (since they came back in '99).

I'm not from Ohio, but two of my college roommates are so I've spent a fair amount of time in the state. I was in Ohio in November for a wedding - my one roommate got married for the third time. Don't ask. This one's a keeper. Anyway...

On the drive from Columbus to Chillicothe we rode through Circleville and I was moved to take a picture of your water tower! :)

I was born in Steubenville and raised in a little town named Toronto, Ohio. Played baseball with Robert Urich when we were kids.

The good ol' Giant pumpkin that watches over our city while we sleep :) If you go about 30 minutes from here off , in the town of Jackson, Ohio, there is an apple water tower. However, it is not nearly as awesome as the great pumpkin

Not in Ohio BUT....

I happened across a poster of sorts at a card shop today here in St. Louis, it says on the bottom "Columbus Baseball Club, 1938"...and has a black and white photo of the entire team. Its framed, but a little rough around the edges, but if anyone is interested I can get you the contact info. The seller is asking $100obo. Just thought I would pass this along. Im not allowed on the BST, and besides, it isnt mine, so "whatevers clever Trevor!". Thanks guys.

Lots of you guys! So how many members of the forum are not from Ohio? My family traveled across your state in a covered wagon back in 1961 on the way out to Colorado. Haven't had a chance to get back since although I want to hit those roller coasters at Cedar Point before I get too geriatric.

T206DK 04-09-2010 08:24 PM

Ohio seems to be well represented on this forum :D
