Intact Post Cereal Box Flats Found

My brother does estate sales and he is currently cleaning out a house of a hoarder that is basically untouched since 1977 and is PACKED full of stuff...the owner and his wife moved into an apartment 33 years ago when the house was too full. Anyway he just called me about 10 minutes ago to tell me he found 4 early 1960s Post Cereal boxes with the cards on them that are completely intact...some have 3 cards and some have 6. I don't recall all the names, but he mentioned Maris, Mays, and Aaron.

So my question is since I can't find anything on ebay and am having a hard time finding info in Google what these boxes usually sell for?

Thanks!

I should have them in a few days and I'll post some pics. There was one football one also, but he said it was pretty beat up.

For complete boxes I would put them more in the $300-700 range

Nice find

Hi Dan,

There is a VERY wide potential range on them. First I want to clarify - these are the complete boxes - not just the back panels? The higher values (1k-2k) would be for big name stars like Mays, Mantle, and Clemente as well as for boxes containing short print cards - presuming ex or better condition with no creases on the stars. For most of the others I would think in the $300-$600 range. I don't know if they are for sale, but might be interested if they are - please PM me. Be well.

hello

What are your prices for each or all together? Thanks!

cereal boxes

1500 for all the boxes?

Nice find. Some of those boxes are very nice. None of the cards are tough, but they are worth quite a bit. Fully intact boxes are pretty sparse, even when they are a bit rough.

Is that a Tarkenton rookie card?

hcv123 04-06-2010 07:32 PM

Too bad about the condition :-(

Hi Dan,

The two smaller Grape nuts boxes (with Mays and Aaron) are tougher than the larger boxes. Unfortunately the condition of the keys on all the boxes is tough. I would offer $400 on the Mays box. Thanks.

I listed all of them on ebay. Thanks for everyone's interest. You can find a link to the auctions on the BST forum.

Wow

Terrific card panels. Amazing that the collector had these just lying around all these years and they are in such pristine condition.
