You can pick up a new copy from one of Amazon's partners starting at $20. The most expensive seller is asking $124.

If used is OK, you can grab one for $13.

BarnesandNoble.com wants $25.60.

FUBAR 03-24-2010 11:17 AM

seller is an asshat! he has 4 of this very limited book which is readily available on amazon.com

GrayGhost 03-24-2010 11:58 AM

I would assume he meant 10.00, of it is a rare book, whic its probably not, 100.00. Just trying to have some fun.

I don't think it's a mistake. He has several books listed for $1,000 which you can pick up on Amazon for under $30.

barrysloate 03-24-2010 12:14 PM

He probably knows that Black Sox material is expensive and in demand, and he's trying to cash in.

GrayGhost 03-24-2010 12:16 PM

LOL. its not that scarce and in demand..

barrysloate 03-24-2010 12:41 PM

Well not that book...but artifacts from 1919 are. I'm not sticking up for the guy, he's a yahoo. I was just trying to figure out how one asks $1000 for a $20 item.

JasonL 03-24-2010 12:50 PM

I guess it only takes one buyer...

and then he's laughing at us and we're the idiots. But until that time...the idiot monicker will be worn by someone else, apparently.

I honestly can't believe anyone is moronic enough to pay 1000.00 for that book.

He has 11,500+ "completed" auctions in the last 15 days. Looks like a handful actually had a buyer and the rest ended without a bite.

This business model might be broken.

barrysloate 03-24-2010 02:45 PM

He's got the Guide to Australian Moths...that's one I've always wanted to read.

I don't get it. Why 1000.00 books, its not just the Black Sox. Now, I wouldnt know anything about the "Quest for Meaning" as a rarity, but I think it should be called, the "Quest for Morons" ..What is it with this guy?

mr2686 03-24-2010 02:47 PM

count me as another person not adding this $1000 item to his Blacksox collection:D

FUBAR 03-24-2010 03:03 PM

doesnt hurt to ask for $1000.00, it only hurts to pay it!

mr2686 03-24-2010 04:51 PM

maybe they'll write a book about the people that pay $1000 for this book...they can call it "eight men out of their minds"
