T210s at the National

Does anyone who attended the National recall any dealers who had a nice selection of T210s? If so, can you provide contact info?
Thanks,
John

John:

Bill Goodwin had one of the two key cards in the set, the Casey Stengel, at the show. I believe he was asking around $7,500 for it though in a PSA 1 holder.

Phil,

Are you sure it wasn't this one?

Rob - how could he be selling a card he already sold 4 months ago?

Well, as JimVB already pointed out, this was for sale at Goodwin and Co.'s table at the National, so if it can happen with a Lajoie, my guess is that it can happen with a Stengel:

I did see the Stengel that Phil referenced on the table, so my question wasn't really tongue in cheek. I didn't remember it being in a PSA holder.

Nope. Not this time. I saw what I saw.

Just the facts, sir. Just the facts.

Good eye Rob.

It was definitely in a 1 holder, could have been SGC and not PSA though.

All we need now is Goodwin checking in.

cobblove 08-07-2009 08:11 PM

The same thing happend to me with Goodwin. 7 Years ago I went to a show in Houston. And Goodwin was there. He had a 1964 Topps Ed Mathews PSA 9, about a Pop 3 at the time. I ended up trading for it and when I got hope I checked his past auctions and this card was just sold around 4-6 months before the show for 2400.00. And at the show he was asking only 1000.00. At the time I just assumed either the buyer didnt pay for the item or it was returned. Who knows

At least JP puts a bit of an effort in by having the certs on the cards changed.

HRBAKER 08-07-2009 10:00 PM

There must be an epidemic of renegging that has broken out.

daviddbreadman 08-07-2009 10:23 PM

If true this is disgusting

Where does the auction house nonsense end??????

calvindog 08-08-2009 08:45 AM

Probably not until they're arrested and convicted. Then there will be a lull until they are released from prison and start up again.

But the important thing to remember is that they are all great guys. Not good -- great.

It ends the day collectors start voting with their feet -- in other words, the Twelfth of Never.

Now now, that was to avoid confusion, wasn't it?

I think most of the time the "righteous indignation" gets checked at the door when something pops up that someone really wants (no one needs any of this stuff). What will tell the tale is whether they can continue to get consignments. Bidders most likely will prove to have short memories.

Peter_Spaeth 08-08-2009 11:45 AM

Another unfortunate side effect of this stuff is that VCP prices may not be reliable, as Bobby has no way of knowing which reported prices are real and which reflect phantom sales.

Potomac Yank 08-08-2009 12:41 PM

To those that don't want to see it.
All you have to do is find a pile of sand.
Put your head in it, and it will all go away.

Or

Speak out about it, and be called a Negative.
I can see the breadman running for the sandpile. :)
