FS: 1939-40 Michigan Sportservice **Tough Type Cards**

I have a group of (7) tough 1939-40 MICHIGAN SPORTSERVICE cards featuring players for the DETROIT TIGERS. All cards have been graded by SGC and shipping will be at least $5 (or more if buying more than one) due to the size of the SGC holders. The cards themselves measure just over 4"x6" each. These are very tough type cards from a popular team.
  • Beau Bell SGC 50 $180
  • Tommy Bridges SGC 60 $235 (High Grade) pictured first
  • Tommy Bridges SGC 40 $135 pictured second
  • Pinky Higgins SGC 40 $135
  • Red Kress SGC 40 $135
  • Buck Newsom SGC 40 $135
  • Birdie Tebbetts SGC 40 $135

Rhett:

I have been looking for a Hal Newhouser forever. Have you ever come across that one?

Sorry Phil, I have handled several cards from this set over the years, in a couple different groups, but I have never owned the Newhouser. It is one tough HOF "Rookie" card.

Phil, I've been looking for the Newhouser for many years too. I was told by someone who had been collecting the set for decades that Newhouser and a couple of other players listed in the Standard Catalog do not exist. I can't remember his name, though.

Paul:

I think you might be right. Newhouser is listed in the Standard Catalogue but I believe the set is listed in a couple of other sources and Newhouser is not included in those checklists.
