1932 Soldier Field Chicago Football Trolley Sign

Posted By: Pat Nester
Unusual Soldier Field Chicago trolley sign that was likely once posted on the inside of an elevated train car – commonly referred to as the “L” in Chicago or was on a streetcar. Measures 21 inches wide and 11 inches tall. Sign is an advertisement for Bank of America in which they compare the amount of new depositors to the capacity of Soldier Field. The picture that is used for the sign is actually the November 27, 1926 Army and Navy game which was the dedication of Soldier Field. If you go to soldierfield.net and go to the history and timeline you will see this is the same picture. Photo credit to the famous Chicago photography firm of Kaufman and Fabry noted on the sign. At the bottom of the sign is the date of 10/24/32 linking it to 1932. These dates on L sign cars were intended to indicate how long the sign should be up. The sign shows some wear including some creasing, stains and 4 or 5 small holes like if someone poked it with a pencil. There has also been some amateur restoration to the top corners that appeared they were once chipped and some similar restoration to a few of the holes. None of this damage effects the overall presentation but mentioned for accuracy. Sign is on thin paper and has been shrink wrapped to a piece of cardboard for protection. Can easily be removed. Some of the glare in the photos is from the plastic. Guaranteed 100% vintage. Please email any questions or for additional scans. Price $250 shipped and insured.

Find any early Army Navy tickets? I'm looking for a 1919 stub or any full tickets before 1945. Thanks.
