Chadwick Guide and Ruth Flipbook

Please email with inquiries - 1934tour@gmail.com<br /><br />Edited to add - Prices include shipping.<br /><br />From “The People’s Handbook Series” this soft cover edition is “The Reliable Book of Outdoor Games – Containing official rules for playing baseball, football, cricket, lacrosse, tennis, croquet, etc. by Henry Chadwick.” Published by F.M. Lupton with a copyright date of 1893. Front cover graphic of period baseball player. A full 17 interior pages cover the rules of baseball with several illustrations. In fine condition with separation along bound edge (40-50% intact) and other scattered edge wear. Several small stains visible, most notably on back. A lesser condition example of a similar guide sold at auction in 2007 for $262. Small staple bound book with image of young Ruth on front cover as produced by Lion Brand. Patent date of 1922 on back cover however interior images appear to show an older Ruth with number “3” on his back dating this to 1929 or later. Exterior wear evident in scans (several small ink dots may not be visible and were used to recolor the background). Lower edge binding split and back cover held on with strip of tape.
