Bill Mastro & Honus:

'Mysteries at the Museum' on the Travel Cannel just aired an episode which detailed Mastro trimming the Wagner and riding the coattails of it's sale.

It was very interesting. You may want to check your local listings to see when it is re-broadcast.

Any idea which season or episode?

Joshwesley 06-19-2015 08:46 PM

I checked the travel channel for the next week on my guide and didn't see it.

Surely they'll show it again?

I didn't even know I had the travel channel.

I clicked on this post with all the joy of a guy watching a plate glass window crash at his feet. I have some reservations about watching the episode.

Travel channel.com will let you view tv schedules all the way to July 5

Unless I missed it, the Wagner mysteries at the museum isn't coming back on

mark evans 06-20-2015 11:04 AM

The segment can be viewed on the Travel Channel website and is 2 minutes and 35 seconds in length.

it matters until we see Bill disappear in zebra stripes after this August.maybe that is why it got another airing.

bosoxphan 06-20-2015 11:35 AM

Wonder what that Wagner goes for at auction now that its a well known trim job.

Roofman4 06-20-2015 12:20 PM

wagner fraud...

Frank A 06-20-2015 12:26 PM

I believe that the next time it comes up for auction it will blow the price roof to bits. That is the most famous card of all time, and there's plenty of people who want it bad. So much history to that card. Frank

bosoxphan 06-20-2015 12:39 PM

Maybe. Last time it sold for 2.8 million in 2007. Personally think it takes a million dollar price hit.

pokerplyr80 06-20-2015 01:00 PM

Considering a PSA 3 just sold for 1.3 million I'd be surprised if that one didn't go for at least a million more than in 07. Not that I could ever afford it but I'm sure there would be a few people bidding who don't care that it was trimmed.

Agree with this. If the Wagner PSA 8 ever goes to auction again, I don't think it will decrease in price at all. Even though it has been trimmed, it is still the most famous card in the hobby.

+1 Most of us knew, or at least suspected, that it had been trimmed long before the last sale, and it still went over $2 million.

All things considered, that example is the Mona Lisa of card collecting. And that painting was trimmed, too.

Watched and thought it was simplified but neat. Shame ol' Bill didn't have better DNA.

travrosty 06-23-2015 12:03 PM

put it in an 'A' holder like it belongs, then see what it goes for.

A very big +1 on that. It is solidly cemented as THE T206 Wagner to have. It will certainly sell for 8 figures in our lifetime, perhaps within 15-20 years.

Highest regards,

Larry
