T206 variations question

I noticed on the recent PWCC T206 Cobb bat on PSA 5 that the orange background was much more pronounced that I remember, but I noticed that it extends way up the side of cobbs face which is way higher that all the ones that I can find online. Is this a common variation? Unique printing variation? Did the color just run after printing on this one? Just curious. There may be many other observations like this on other cards since printing was not automated as it is today. Thanks

Variations in the backgrounds are common especially between series.
By the looks of it I would guess the cobb on the left that you're referring
to is a 350 series.

T206 Variations

I find it amazing that there are collectors that can tell the backs by the color of the bleed of the background. The passion of card collecting is truly unbelievable.

The difference can be more pronounced on certain subjects.

Here's three different Camnitz arms folded where the orange in the sky is darker on the 350.

The 150 Series is always much sharper with stronger color. By the time the 350 series was produced the stones were worn and had been reworked as well.

Scott, I find that the registration is usually better on the 150 series but certain
colors are usually bolder on the 350 series like the Orange/Red in Abbaticchio and
Tannehill and the Blue in McIntyre.
