Any help identifying this late 19th early 20th century player would be appreciated.

long shot

I think this one will be a long shot. Sorry I can't help except to bump the thread once to get a few more views.

Joe Jackson's father? Sorry, I couldn't help myself.

I have more questions than answers.

Is this the entire photo? If not, the whole photo may be more helpful (even without markings). If so, where was it found? If that info is not available, are there any identifiable marks on the photo (such as photo studio, etc)? Even with all of the above information it is very difficult to identify anyone without a comparable photograph.

I am afraid in its' current state it would be next to impossible to identify this individual with any certainty.

I wanted to provide a clear photo of just his face to see if anyone recognized him. Here's a full body shot.

The photo appears to be mirror imaged based on his jersey buttoning the wrong way.

Mark,
It's a tintype, so I understand the reverse image is normal.

The image on my screen may be unclear, but those look like riding boots which make me believe this is a polo player. The belt & buckle are a little elaborate for baseball. Very early image of a polo player if a tintype. Excellent piece regardless.

It's a common style 1890's baseball belt, as are the padded pants.

I lightened it up to better show the socks and shoes.
Thanks to all for taking a look.
