Anyone ever seen these c1915 football and baseball lighters?
Has anyone ever seen either of the fooball or the baseball lighters below?

I have seen the football one before but never knew what it was as I think it was missing part of the lighter section

I've never seen either, and it's right along the lines of what I collect. Gotta be tremendously rare. They must've sold very few, for them to be so scarce today.
Would love to see an actual example... Great post! |
I would have to wonder if a lighter collector has seen any of these examples. They must have been very short lived for none to have survived. Also, its possible most could have also been donated as scrap for the war effort. Just a thought.

This explains it guys. Letter reads that due to increasing price of sparking metal lighters will be discontinued once current supply of sparking metal is exhausted.

unbelieveable!
 I just happen to have in my back pocket a letter from 1916 related to the op question - WOW! This board is incredible.

I found an example of the football lighter in Hunts February 2001 auction while thumbing through my old catalogs. Here is a link:)
