St. Louis Browns photo ID help...

I've had this 4 x 5 negative that my grandfather took for years and have actually scoured the internet trying to figure out who these guys are - with no luck. All I know is it's from Briggs Stadium in Detroit. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Not sure of either one, but surely someone here will help with the IDs before too long.

Just had to comment that I'd kill for one of those Brownie Jackets... a want-list item of mine for almost 20 years :o

If someone here doesn't ID them quickly, I have two suggestions, the first of which you may have already tried:

1. Do an image search for various years of Browns team photos to find ones that have rosters IDing the players at the bottom to see if you can match images.

2. I believe a St. Louis Browns Historical Society may still exist. Try an internet search to verify and get in contact.

Good luck.

1952-53 Browns going by hat and logo. Narrows it a bit.

Actually, now that the years were narrowed down, I think it's Bob Cain on the right. Thanks for any and all replies. I never would have figured it out myself.

For sure not Bob Cain on right

Hi Guys,

The player on the right is pitcher Bob Habenicht. He was in 1 game with the '53 Browns, and had broken in with the 1951 Cardinals. He is on a 1951 Cardinals team issued postcard that used a minor league photo and was headed "The Cardinals introduce...". Google Bob Habenicht images and the postcard will come up. It is definitely him. Habenicht's only regular season game for the Browns was on 5-3-53 at home against the Red Sox, but I think that picture was taken on 4-19-53 in Detroit. It is obviously cold and overcast, and it looks like it is snowing lightly. I checked the weather for Detroit on 4-19-53, and the high temp. was 40 with light snow showers from Noon - 2:00 pm.

Hope that this info. helps,

Jeff

Mike Blyzka and Bob Habenicht. Wow, not exactly household names. Thank you gentlemen. I don't feel so bad not getting Habenicht, looks like he had a very brief career.
