In the past year I sold some older Union College photographs, and while they were not as old as yours, all of the sweaters and uniforms only sported a U. <br />Maybe I am stating the obvious here, but it looks like the one gentleman in the back row is sporting a uniform with what looks like 91 (for the year 1891) on the chest. It could also say 01, but maybe it is easier to make it out on the original<br /><br />Keith
