Telling the Difference between S74-1 Silks & S74-2 Silks (Show your pics!)

.

I searched the board, and couldn't quickly find any information on this, and though that in no way means it isn't already available, I thought it would be good for it to be easily searchable for anyone interested in the set. I am certainly no expert on these, and would like to learn more as well.

Here is a link to Old Cardboard describing the set.

I'll start off with some S74 Cubbies! All are S74-1, thanks for the correction and info Andy. :D

Hi Nate,

I believe those are all s74-1 with the backing removed.

s74-1 came in black (can look dark brown), maroon, and blue front colors.

s74-2 have the factory on the front and were not issued attached to cardboard.

best regards,
andy

Thanks Andy!

I do wonder though if the silk has been threaded to the point where the factory has been removed from the front, is it possible to decipher the difference if the background of the S74 is a beige color as is found on the S74-1s?

+1

....-1s had cardboard backs and NO mfg/factory or brand on the fronts.
....-2s had mfg and brand on front and no cardboard backs.

(and thanks again Andy, for many of these)

Awesome Leon, those are beautiful. Underrated set imo...

Whenever I show people my Cubs binder, though 95% of the ppl are already completely disinterested, when I get to the silks I say with a decent, though tempered, amount of excitement: "These are actually made out of silk!"

So Type 2 images appear to be considerably smaller than Type 1 images?

The images are the same. The type 2's are about 1/2" longer, so there is more "border".

S74s are often found with stitch marks, like those on the 3 Old Mills below:
