Help requested: NY Giants pennant

A friend in Toronto found this one. Anyone have Mike's pennant book handy? Original? Repro? Value? Thanks!

Looks original to me although they DID make repros of that one. The softness of the felt would be a sure indicator. The SF Giants had a very similar pennant, which makes me think your friend's is 1950's. Maybe a $50-75 pennant, on a good day.

Thanks Rob!

The full size version is not in Mike Egner's book.
FWIW, it does show a 12" mini in the same style. Listed as "Rare" and valued at $25 - $45.
The same "rarity factor" does not always apply to other sizes of the same style though.

This one looks to be in very nice shape. My guesstimate would be the high end Rob's estimate.

Thanks Jack! I was off on my guesstimate. I thought, if original it might bring $150 or more. That's why I stick to a Toronto theme.

Chris, I would emphasize the "guess" part of my guesstimate. I like the look of the pennant, others may think it too plain.

I would not be surprised if others chime in to say it's worth more than $75. Then again, Rob knows more about Giants pennants than most anyone.

I just looked...I paid $65 for the same pennant from Bob Rothschild (anyone remember him?) in the pre-ebay, SCD days.

Chris - I think the graphics are too plain to ever be a $150 pennant.

Thanks again. Not doubting you in the slightest. I have limited experience with pennants. Like them, but dont really follow them.

This is a nice and original pennant. Problem is it falls in to that plain era from the 40's to early 50's and there is no wow factor. I would place a retail estimate at about $100 - $125, although I think if you found it on EBay it would only sell for about $50 - 75. A lot of these plain pennant can be had fairly cheap compared to other versions from the same era. Hope that helps answer your questions

Agree... Very plain graphics, and not all that rare.

Professional Dealer price = $125

Typical Ebay Seller's Buy It Now Price = $99

Actual price it would realize in traditional auction format = $70

I loved dealing with Bob back in the 1990s. Bought a lot of nice stuff from him at fair prices. He was a guy who knew what he was selling, something you don't see as much these days.
